EKITI 2026: PWDs PLEDGE 50,000 VOTES FOR OYEBANJI'S RE-ELECTION

People Living with Disabilities (PWDs) in Ekiti State have pledged to deliver at least 50,000 votes for the re-election bid of the State Governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Biodun Oyebanji.

Speaking at a rally organized by the association of PWDs and led by Mr Olugbenga Obanise in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, the Association said Oyebanji has made tremendous positive impacts on the lives of people living with disabilities in the State with carefully planned policies. 

Obanise said the mammoth crowd that came  was an evidence that the Governor is a benefactor to PWDs and they would gladly troop out on Saturday  to reward him for the good works he has done with their votes.

The leader of PWDs praised Oyebanji for the various policies and programmes that has given PWDs a sense of belonging in the State.

"Governor Oyebanji has made impacts on the lives of people living with disabilities. If Mr Governor is not good to them and they are not loyal to him, you would not see us troop out in large numbers like this. You won't see this crowd today. We are hereby pledging that we will deliver at 50,000 votes for him. We will mobilize ourselves and our family members to thank Oyebanji for what he has done for us", Obanise said.

Addressing the crowd, the Organizing Secretary of the APC in South west, Dr Abdul-lateef Ibirogba reiterated the respect of the party for PWDs, saying that this was why the government of Oyebanji came up with deliberate policies in favour of the PWDs.

He assured that Oyebanji would do more if re-elected.

Also speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Education and Social Inclusion, Mrs Adetoun Agboola highlighted the various steps which the Oyebanji-led administration has taken to give PWDs a new lease of life.

Agboola said the administration made free health services available to PWDs at all primary healthcare centres across the State and has shown commitment to them by upgrading Special Schools in the State.

She added that the schools have been provided with 21st century-compliant instructional materials while caregivers were employed for effective learning.

The Adviser said the administration has also ensured the return of over 400 out of school PWDs to special schools in the State.
