The Ekiti State Water and Sanitation Regulatory Agency (EK-WASRA) has be been named the “Most Upcoming Water Supply and Sanitation Regulation Member” by the Eastern and Southern Africa Water and Sanitation Regulators Association (ESAWAS) at the 4th Africa Water and Sanitation Regulators Conference, held between May 19th and 21st at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
The annual conference, hosted by South Africa’s Department of Water and Sanitation, brought together regulators, policymakers, utility managers, and sector experts from across Africa to discuss strategies for improving water governance, sanitation services, and equitable access to safe water.
EK-WASRA’s General Manager,. Engr. Ayodele Osalade said the award validates the agency’s efforts to create a people-centered regulatory framework in Ekiti State. “This recognition motivates us to strengthen institutional capacity, deepen stakeholder collaboration, and sustain reforms that enhance access to potable water and hygiene services,” he said.
Osalade credited the Ekiti State Government under Governor Biodun Oyebanji for providing an enabling environment for institutional development and good governance.
He also praised Prof. Bolaji Aluko, Commissioner for Infrastructure and Public Utilities, as well as development partners, stakeholders, and EK-WASRA staff for their dedication to advancing the water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector.
Osalade reaffirmed EK-WASRA’s commitment to promoting regulatory efficiency, consumer confidence, and policies ensuring safe, affordable, and sustainable water and sanitation services for Ekiti residents
