Ekiti Govt Hands Over Poultry Estate Project Site to Contractor

The Ekiti State Government, through the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) Project, has handed over the site for the construction of a 30,000-bird-capacity climate-smart poultry estate in Emure-Ekiti to the contractor handling the project.

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Ebenezer Boluwade, said during the handover ceremony that the project was part of the state government’s strategic efforts to boost broiler production and strengthen food security.

Boluwade explained that the proposed poultry estate would consist of five poultry pens with a capacity of 6,000 birds each.

He noted that the facility was designed to operate in line with modern climate-resilient livestock production standards.

According to him, the project represents a critical intervention in the state’s livestock transformation agenda and will consolidate ongoing investments in poultry production.

The commissioner added that the initiative would also create new opportunities across the livestock value chain.

He further stated that the climate-smart poultry estate was expected to drive job creation, stimulate agribusiness activities and improve protein availability through increased poultry output.

Also speaking, the State Project Coordinator of L-PRES, Mr. Olayinka Adedipe, said the design and scale of the facility reflected global best practices in commercial poultry production.

Adedipe explained that the project was structured to promote operational efficiency, sustainability and long-term viability within the poultry sector.

In his remarks, the Elemure of Emure-Ekiti, Oba Babatunde Ajiboye, commended the state government and the L-PRES Project for siting the facility in the community.

The traditional ruler described the project as a catalyst for economic growth and youth empowerment in the area.

Ajiboye expressed confidence that the poultry estate would attract private sector investment, generate employment and boost economic activities in Emure-Ekiti and neighbouring communities.

The Managing Director of Brant Nigeria Limited, Mr. Niyi Ijogun, assured stakeholders of the company’s commitment to delivering the project according to specifications and within the agreed timeline.
