Ekiti Appoints Three Tutors-General for Teaching Service

The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the appointment of three Tutors-General to fill vacancies in the state teaching service.

The Chairman of the State Teaching Service Commission, Mrs Rhoda Ojo, announced the appointments in Ado-Ekiti following the conclusion of a selection process involving 15 senior principals from public secondary schools in the state.

The newly appointed Tutors-General are Mrs Fasoranti Olusola Monisola for Ekiti North Senatorial District; Mrs Agbebunmi Mojoyinola Oluwakemi for Ekiti Central Senatorial District; and Mrs Adebayo Beatrice Omotola for Ekiti South Senatorial District.

Ojo described the appointments as a call to service and urged the new Tutors-General to contribute meaningfully to the development of the education sector.

She said their emergence was based on merit and hard work, adding that they were expected to work closely with school administrators to improve academic standards in public secondary schools.

Ojo also warned against financial impropriety and indiscipline, stressing the need to uphold the state government’s zero-tolerance policy on examination malpractice.

She noted that only two male principals participated in the selection process, with one withdrawing before its conclusion.

The Permanent Secretary of the commission, Mr Michael Boluwade, advised the appointees to familiarise themselves with public service regulations and the Teachers’ Manual.

He also urged them to remain loyal to the government and seek guidance from the commission on issues that could affect their duties.

Speaking on behalf of the appointees, Mrs Oluwakemi Agbebunmi pledged their commitment to mentorship, loyalty and collaboration with stakeholders to improve education standards in the state.

The selection process included a competency test and an interactive session with education sector leaders.

The appointments follow the retirement of the former Tutors-General for Ekiti Central and Ekiti North, Mrs Stella Ajayi and Mr Richard Ogungbamigbe, after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60.

The outgoing Tutor-General for Ekiti South, Temitope Adesuyi, is also expected to retire in the coming weeks.
