The Ekiti State Government has inspected the site of the proposed General Hospital in Ipao-Ekiti, ahead of the commencement of construction of the secondary health facility.
The inspection team was led by the State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani.
Speaking during the visit, Filani said the hospital was strategically located, considering the large-scale agro-processing activities in Ipao-Ekiti and its neighbouring communities.
He recalled that the State Government recently approved the establishment of three new general hospitals in Awo, Ikogosi and Ipao-Ekiti, as part of efforts to strengthen the health sector and ensure adequate healthcare delivery for residents.
According to him, the initiative is also aimed at positioning the state’s health system as a model of excellence in the country.
In his remarks, a community leader and Chairman of the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission, Chief Alaba Abejide, commended Gov. Biodun Oyebanji for his achievements over the past three years, particularly in prioritising the health and wellbeing of Ekiti residents.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Ajoni Local Council Development Area, Mr Michael Ogungbemi, and the Oba nla of Ipao-Ekiti, Oba Williams Ehinmodupin, lauded the governor for citing the health facility in the community.
They described the hospital as a timely and well-deserved project that would serve Ipao-Ekiti and the entire north-eastern part of the state.
The monarch and the LCDA chairman assured the state government of the community’s support, while calling on residents to continue to support the Oyebanji-led administration to attract more development projects.
