The former Chief of Staff to Ekiti State Governor, Hon Biodun Omoleye on Thursday undertook an assessment tour of the ongoing construction of international commodity market at Ijurin-Ekiti.
Omoleye was at the site along Ipoti road where he was received by the Project Manager, Architect Ibrahim Quadri.
The former Chief of Staff while giving background information of the market said,it is a commodity market facilitated by the office of the President under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) programme initiative which was geared towards bringing development to the grassroots and as well ensure that no one is left behind in the development scheme.
Omoleye who was also a former Chairman of SDGs, Ekiti state office, explained that the market is initiated to bring together farmers, traders and numerous stakeholders to benefit in the economy of the state.
" A modern market like this will benefit quite a number of people like transporters, farmers, traders, students etc. It is a facility that is meant to change the pattern of commerce in this part of the state", Omoleye said.
In a chat with newsmen after the inspection, Omoleye expressed satisfaction with the level of work done by the contractor.
" Am happy with the spate of work done here, within 3 weeks, close to 65% of the work is already done and the way is going, within a period of 12 weeks, this project would have been completed".
Omoleye expressed joy that the project is coming to Ekiti state and Ijero local government in particular, stressed that all communities in the axis will benefit immensely from the market.
The Project Manager, Architect Ibrahim Quadri gave an assurance that the work will be completed within the stipulated time.
Architect Ibrahim further explained that the market will have facilities like security post, Warehouse, lock-up shops, open shops,electricity, borehole, toilets and other associated modern facilities.
