The General Manager, Ekiti State Sports Council, Mr Kunle Adeyemi has said that the athletes representing the State at the 21st National Sports Festival coming up in Delta State will now intensify training to keep in good form and stay well prepared to excel at the event.

Mr Adeyemi revealed this at a meeting with the Directors and Coaches following the news received from the National body that the National Sports Festival, Delta 2022 has now been scheduled to hold between 28th November and 10th December, 2022.

He stated that it was imperative that the athletes continue their training and preparation because the chosen date for the sports fiesta is just around the corner, though the athletes had continued to train despite the event being postponed earlier due to the host state requesting more time to complete some of the facilities for the festival.

The GM, while expressing confidence in the ability of the State contingent to perform exploits at the forthcoming event, also stressed the significance of winning and that it can only be achieved through adequate preparation. According to him, the National body also communicated that the Zonal Elimination for Team Sports ahead of the Festival is expected to hold on 29th September, 2022.

Reiterating the commitment of the Fayemi led administration to the development of sports in the State, Adeyemi said that the Governor of the State has instructed that the welfare of athletes and coaches be prioritized.

Mr Adeyemi lauded Governor Kayode Fayemi for the effort that has been put into sports development in the State and as well commended coaches, athletes and members of staff of the Ekiti State Sports Council for their commitment to ensuring a laudable performance at the event.

The General Manager also charged the Coaches to ensure that they carryout rigorous training regimens to get their athletes in good form and well prepared to win laurels in the sports festival.
