Ekiti Urges MDAs to Align 2027 Budget Proposals with Development Priorities.

 

Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in Ekiti State have been urged to align their 2027 budget proposals with the State Government's development priorities to ensure effective and efficient utilisation of available resources.

The State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Femi Ajayi, gave the charge during the 2027 Budget Envelope Sharing and Negotiation exercise held at the CDA Event Centre, Ado-Ekiti, where representatives of MDAs and other stakeholders gathered to deliberate on the proposed budgetary allocations.

Ajayi said the exercise was aimed at ensuring that the State's limited resources were carefully allocated to programmes and projects that would support the government's development agenda.

He explained that the 2027 budget proposals must be guided by the 2027–2029 Multi-Year Budget Framework and the Ekiti State 30-Year Development Plan, adding that a Zero-Based Budgeting approach would be adopted to ensure that every proposed expenditure was properly justified and aligned with government priorities.

The Commissioner urged MDAs to review their work plans and ensure that their proposals reflected the administration's vision, while calling for greater creativity and collaboration towards improving the State's Internally Generated Revenue.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Sola Akinluyi, Esq., described the 2027 Budget as significant, being the first budget of the second term of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji's administration.

Akinluyi urged MDAs to focus on consolidating the achievements of the first term, with priority given to the completion of ongoing projects in line with the Transition Law of Ekiti State, 2019.

He also directed MDAs to submit detailed breakdowns of their overhead and capital expenditure proposals to the Ministry by Wednesday, September 23,2026
