The Ekiti State Commissioner for Education, Dr Olabimpe Aderiye, says the ongoing state-wide monitoring of schools is aimed at assessing their level of preparedness for the 2026/2027 academic session and ensuring compliance with the ministry’s resumption guidelines.
Aderiye stated this during a week-long monitoring tour of public schools across the state, undertaken alongside the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Bayode Ogunmola, and other senior officials.
She said the exercise was also designed to assess the readiness of school administrators, teachers and students, inspect facilities and identify areas requiring attention to ensure a smooth commencement of the new academic session.
The commissioner visited Government College, Ikere-Ekiti, and Government Science College, Emure-Ekiti, where she inspected classrooms, laboratories, student dormitories ,staff attendance registers and other resumption logistics.
She charged school administrators to ensure proper maintenance and effective utilisation of government facilities under their custody.
Aderiye also stressed the importance of discipline, punctuality and commitment among teachers and students to achieving improved learning outcomes.
During the exercise, the team visited Government Science College, Iyin-Ekiti; Government College, Usi-Ekiti; and Government College, Ado-Ekiti.
The commissioner interacted with teachers and students, urging them to embrace excellence and make effective use of resources provided by the state government to enhance teaching and learning.
Aderiye also visited Gbemisola Olowolafe Memorial Grammar School, Are-Ekiti; Government College, Oye-Ekiti; and Government Science College, Ayede-Ekiti.
She reiterated the commitment of the administration of Gov. Biodun Oyebanji to repositioning public education in the state through sustained monitoring, accountability and improved learning conditions.
The commissioner said regular monitoring of schools was necessary to identify challenges, ensure compliance with established standards and promote effective service delivery across the education sector.
She urged school administrators and teachers to maintain high standards of professionalism and ensure that students were adequately supported as the new academic session got underway.
The monitoring tour will continue with visits to other schools across the state to further assess facilities, staff attendance, administrative preparedness and other requirements for effective teaching and learning.
