The Permanent Secretary, Ekiti State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Mr Olusola Akinluyi, has advised staff to prioritise regular medical check-ups and effective stress management to promote healthy living and prevent avoidable deaths.
Akinluyi gave the advice during the ministry’s Monday morning prayer and technical session held at the ministry’s hall in Ado-Ekiti.
He said the health talk was organised against the backdrop of increasing cases of sudden and untimely deaths in society, urging individuals to pay closer attention to their health and undergo regular medical examinations.
A health practitioner, Mrs Jesumileye Ruth Modupeola, who spoke on “Stress Management and Cardiovascular Health,” educated the staff on blood pressure, stress and other health conditions that could become life-threatening when not properly managed.
Modupeola advised the staff to adopt healthy lifestyles, manage stress effectively and make regular medical check-ups part of their routine.
She said proper stress management could contribute significantly to longevity and improved quality of life.
She also conducted practical health tests for the staff, enabling them to check some vital health indicators and gain better awareness of their health status.
One of the staff members, Mr Abiodun Ariyo, commended the ministry’s management for organising the programme, describing it as timely and beneficial.
Ariyo said the initiative would encourage staff to pay greater attention to their health and take preventive healthcare more seriously.
