Oyebanji’s Sports Vision Lauded as Ekiti Sports Community Receives Palliatives

 

The Technical Adviser to the Ekiti State Governor on Sports Development, Dr. Olusola Osetoba, has reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to transforming sports from a recreational activity into a strategic platform for youth empowerment, job creation, and wealth generation.

Dr. Osetoba who made the pledge during the distribution of palliative items to members of the state’s sports community in Ado-Ekiti, noted that the present administration is driving this vision through massive infrastructure development, grassroots talent discovery programmes, and improved welfare packages for athletes and sports personnel.

She commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his sustained investment in sports, highlighting that the welfare-focused initiative reflects the governor’s dedication to the development of the sector and the well-being of its stakeholders.

“The governor’s passion for sports development is evident in the ongoing upgrades of sporting facilities across the state,” Osetoba said. She disclosed that the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium is being modernized to international standards, including the installation of a world-class synthetic pitch and modern athletics tracks.

She further revealed that an ultra-modern indoor sports hall complex is under construction to provide standard facilities for indoor sporting activities and enhance athlete performance.

Earlier, the Team Leader of the monitoring team from Monal Innovation Initiatives commended Osetoba for ensuring transparency, orderliness, and equitable distribution of the palliatives. The team leader said the smooth conduct of the exercise demonstrated the government’s commitment to fairness and inclusiveness in implementing welfare programmes for the sports community.

The palliatives were distributed through the Office of Sports Development at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti, to cushion the effects of economic challenges faced by sports sector members.

Beneficiaries included management and staff of the Ekiti State Sports Commission, athletes, members of Ekiti United FC and Ekiti Queens FC, as well as the Players Union, Coaches Association, Referees Association, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ekiti Supporters Club, and other affiliated sports associations in the state.
