Ekiti Works Commissioner Urges Staff to Prioritise Regular Medical Check-Up

The Ekiti State Commissioner for Works, Mr Sola Adebayo, has urged workers in the ministry to prioritise regular medical check-ups as part of efforts to maintain good health and enhance productivity.

Adebayo gave the charge during a free medical screening exercise organised by the Ekiti State Primary Health Care Development Agency for staff of the Ministry of Works at the ministry headquarters in Ajilosun, Ado-Ekiti.

According to the Commissioner, good health remains essential for effective service delivery, noting that workers should take advantage of preventive healthcare opportunities to monitor their health status and address emerging health concerns early.

He commended the Primary Health Care Development Agency for bringing healthcare services closer to workers and called for sustained initiatives that promote wellness among the workforce.

Adebayo also urged eligible voters who are yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to do so, while encouraging residents to remain vigilant and security conscious.

Earlier, a member of the medical team and Tuberculosis Focal Person for Ado Local Government Area, Mrs Bosede Daramola, explained that the screening programme was designed to promote preventive healthcare among workers.

She disclosed that the exercise featured X-ray chest examinations, malaria tests, HIV and Hepatitis B screenings, alongside checks for chest-related ailments. Health education sessions on menopause were also organised to enlighten female workers on managing the condition.

According to Daramola, balanced nutrition and regular medical examinations are critical to sustaining healthy living and reducing disease risks.

She advised workers to cultivate healthy eating habits and seek timely medical attention whenever health concerns arise.

Daramola disclosed that more than 100 workers and senior officials of the ministry benefited from the free medical screening and counselling services.

The Commissioner, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. Olukayode Ibijola, and members of management also participated in the exercise.

Some beneficiaries, including Engineer Amos Ilesanmi and Director of Press, Adekunle Adeniyi, commended the state government and the agency for the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful.

The programme attracted participation from workers across various departments of the Ministry of Works, who underwent screening and received health counselling from medical personnel.
