EKITI TO HOLD JUNE ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION EXERCISE JUNE 27

The Ekiti State Government says its monthly environmental sanitation exercise for June will hold on Saturday, June 27, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. across all Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.

The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Erelu Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, urged residents to fully participate in the exercise, describing environmental sanitation as a collective civic duty.

She said the theme for the month, “Together, Let Us Eradicate Diseases Through Regular Environmental Sanitation Across Ekiti State,” underscores the importance of a clean environment in preventing disease outbreaks and promoting public health.

Aluko-Ajisafe reminded residents that there would be a restriction of movement during the three-hour exercise, except for those on essential duties, and called on households, communities and business owners to ensure proper cleaning of their surroundings.

According to her, market women are expected to clean their stalls on Thursday, while public servants are to tidy their offices on Friday ahead of the exercise.

She added that Environmental Health Officers, in collaboration with officials of LGAs, LCDAs, NGOs and relevant government agencies, would monitor compliance across the state.

The commissioner called on residents to support the initiative, noting that sustained environmental cleanliness remains key to a healthy and disease-free society in Ekiti State.
