Ekiti Finance Commissioner Urges Civil Servants to Adhere to Rules for Improved Service Delivery

The Ekiti State Commissioner for Finance, Mr Akin Oyebode, has urged civil servants to adhere strictly to the public service rules and regulations to enhance efficiency and improve service delivery.

Oyebode made the call at a one-day capacity-building workshop organised for staff of the Ministry of Finance in Ado-Ekiti.

He said the workshop, with the theme, “Strengthening Institutional Capacity for Improved Performance,” was part of efforts by the ministry to improve staff productivity and overall performance.

The Commissioner stressed the importance of commitment to duty and strict compliance with civil service guidelines, noting that dedication to service would enable officers to perform optimally.

One of the facilitators, Mr Segun Adebayo, who delivered a paper titled : Application of Public Service Rules" highlighted the importance of civil service rules and regulations , urged participants to apply them diligently in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Also speaking, a retired Permanent Secretary, Dr Jide Akinleye, who delivered a lecture titled “Stress Management/Work-Life Balance,” advised participants to maintain a healthy balance between work, health and social life to achieve fulfilment in all areas.

Another resource person, Rev. Adebiyi Fasoyin, Technical Adviser from the Office of Transformation, Strategy and Delivery (OTSD), who spoke on "Change Management/ Mind shift"  urged participants to embrace positive change and adopt a progressive mindset to excel in the civil service.

In his presentation, Mr J.B. Folorunso, a retired Permanent Secretary and Current Director-General of the State Bureau of Public Procurement, advised civil servants to prepare adequately for retirement by engaging in meaningful activities that would keep them productive in old age.

In her remarks, the Acting Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs Lucy Bamisile, appreciated members of staff for their cooperation and urged them to apply the knowledge gained from the workshop.

Some participants commended the ministry’s management for organising the training, describing it as timely in view of the increasing demand for knowledge and rapid technological advancement.

They also pledged to put the lessons learnt into practice.

Certificates of participation were presented to participants at the end of the workshop.
