Ekiti State Warns Contractors on Standards, Deadlines

The Ekiti State government has warned contractors handling public projects that it will not compromise on quality standards or project timelines.

 

The Special Adviser  to the State Governor on Special Projects, Mr Olubunmi Talabi,  handed down the warning  during a stakeholders’ meeting with government monitoring agencies in Ado-Ekiti, where officials reviewed ongoing projects across the state.

Mr. Talabi said all public projects were tied to approved specifications and deadlines, and warned that any contractor who failed to meet those requirements would not be paid.

“Any project that is not executed based on approved standards will not be cleared for payment,” he said.

The meeting brought together representatives from various ministries, departments and agencies, who presented findings from site inspections and identified areas where contractors had deviated from approved specifications.

Mr. Talabi directed contractors to immediately correct identified deficiencies and said further inspections would focus on the quality of materials being used.

He reiterated the administration’s commitment to delivering projects that are durable, timely and provide value for money, adding that infrastructure development remains central to improving living conditions in the state.

Speaking in the same vein, the Director General of the Office of Transformation and Service Delivery, Dr John Ekundayo noted that the regular review meetings were designed to ensure accountability and quality assurance.

He warned that the government would not tolerate substandard work and urged contractors to strictly adhere to project documents and specifications.

Mr. Ekundayo also called on contractors to accelerate work to ensure timely completion of projects.

In response, a project manager, Tosin Oguntade, said contractors would address the issues raised and ensure compliance with approved standards.
