BUREAU OF CIVIC ORIENTATION BOSS URGES SUPPORT FOR OYEBANJI’S RE-ELECTION IN EKITI

The Director-General of the Ekiti State Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship (BCOC), Mrs. Olawumi Famuyiwa, has urged women in Ekiti State to support the re-election of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, citing his administration’s record in inclusion, infrastructure, and social programmes.

Famuyiwa made the appeal while featuring on a radio programme, BAO Ilosiwaju Ekiti, on  Ekiti FM 91.5 .

  She stated that the government has restored stability and created the right conditions for economic growth.

“Without doubt, Ekiti State is the most peaceful state in Nigeria today,” she said. “People can go about their businesses without fear. That peace is allowing markets to thrive, tourism to grow, and the state’s development agenda to move forward.”

Famuyiwa credited the administration with appointing an unprecedented number of  women into public office and called on women across the state to mobilise support to ensure continuity.

 According to her, the government has also focused on completing projects inherited from previous administrations, a move she said helps preserve public investment and reduce waste.

Famuyiwa highlighted improvements in the road network, including the ring road, describing them as vital for mobility and commerce. 

She added that progress on the state’s airport project would enhance connectivity and stimulate economic growth.

On social policy, she praised initiatives led by the governor’s wife, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, including the Widows and Orphans Hope Project (WAOH), the Adire Hub, and targeted empowerment schemes for widows and other vulnerable groups.

The BCOC DG noted that these programmes are expanding livelihoods and opportunities, contributing to the state’s overall growth and prosperity.

She also reiterated the commitment of the BCOC to promoting the Omoluabi ethos—a set of Yoruba values centred on integrity, humility, and social responsibility—and urged residents to uphold these principles in both public and private life.

“We must return to the Omoluabi way of life —respect for elders, integrity in conduct, simplicity in dress, and humility in behaviour,” she said. “These values are critical to sustaining the gains we are making in Ekiti.”

Famuyiwa stated that returning Oyebanji for a second term would enable the government to consolidate progress in infrastructure, social welfare, and economic development.
