The Vice-Chancellor of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI), Ikere-Ekiti, Prof. Andrew Omojola, says deliberate and consistent policies of the Ekiti State Government have transformed the institution into Nigeria’s fastest-growing state-owned university of education.
Omojola made the assertion on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti during a courtesy visit to the State Commissioner for Education, Dr Olabimpe Aderiye.
He said the steady growth of the university, its expanding academic profile and rising national visibility were products of strategic leadership, consistent policy direction and responsive governance by the State Government.
According to him, BOUESTI has continued to show strong potential as a viable and competitive academic institution, adding that sustained government support and a serene learning environment would further enhance its development and global outlook.
The Vice-Chancellor noted that increased investment in infrastructure and academic programmes would position the university as a reference point for teacher education, innovation and skill-based learning in Nigeria and beyond.
Omojola expressed appreciation to the Ekiti State Government for its consistent support, describing the milestones recorded by the institution as a direct result of timely government interventions.
While acknowledging the progress made so far, he urged the government to sustain its support, saying a peaceful and conducive academic environment would attract more students, strengthen partnerships and boost international recognition for the university.
Responding, the Commissioner for Education, Dr Aderiye, described BOUESTI as a pride of Ekiti State and commended the university management for its innovative and forward-looking academic approach.
She particularly praised the institution for offering unconventional courses with strong emphasis on vocational and practical skills, saying such programmes provide opportunities for students with talents in creativity, craftsmanship and innovation.
Aderiye explained that skill-driven academic programmes aligned with practical competence and innovation were part of the state government’s policy to match education with economic realities, promote self-reliance and equip graduates for job creation.
She assured the vice-chancellor of the state government’s continued support, reaffirming that Gov. Biodun Oyebanji remains committed to the growth and development of BOUESTI and other tertiary institutions in the state.
