Ekiti SEMA/NEMA advocate proper handling of properties during this season

Ekiti State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have urged the residents of Ekiti State to desist from anything that can cause fire outbreak.

The agencies made this plea during their inspection to ascertain the essence of damage caused by fire outbreak that occurred at Ajilete, Emure Ekiti in Emure local government.

The team led by the Director Relief Rehabilitation of State Emergency Management Agency, Mrs. Laka Kemisola appleadto the people of the town and Ekiti State in general to be conscious and do away with anything that can cause fire outbreak, especially during this season.

She said the State would liase with the Federal Government to cushion the effects of the inferno through the relief materials that would be delivered to assist the owner of the affected factories.

Earlier, the Executive Chairman of Emure local government, Honorable Joseph Adu who addressed the delegation on the fire incident said materials worth more than one hundred million naira were burnt beyond recognition.

The Chairman who said the cause of the fire could not be ascertained applead to the State Government to assist the victims while he warned the residents to be very careful in handling their properties.

The victims, Mr. Boye Opeyemi, Mr. Ogunsina Abiodun and Mr Alaba Taiwo cried out for help from the Ekiti State Governor Mr. Biodun Oyebanji and well meaning individuals in the society to come to their aid in order to feed their families as they described themselves as the bread winners.

Some of the materials that went with the ugly fire incident included sewing machines, ramping machine, welding machine, grinding machine, standby generator set among other valuable materials.
