Ado-Ekiti, Nov. 30, 2022 (NAN) The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA has distributed relief materials to residents of Ilawe-Ekiti who suffered from the flood disaster ravaging various streets in the community affected by the 2021 flood and other natural and human induced disaster in Ekiti state.
The gesture was the approval of grains by president Muhammadu Buhari special intervention for distribution to vulnerable Nigerians in Ekiti state.
The Head of Operation for Ondo and Ekiti-State, Mr Kadiri Olarewaju made this known during a distribution of the relief materials at Ilawe-Ekiti in Ekiti South local government area of Ekiti-State.
He said that the materials was a gesture from the Federal Government to alleviate poverty and to cushion the effect of the Disasters caused by flood and windstorms.
Olarewaju, who frowned at the indiscriminate dumping of refuses by people in the community called for proper clearing of drains to avoid reoccurrence of natural disasters.
In the same vein, the General Manager of State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Mr Jide Borode, assured the residents of the community of constant Government intervention.
The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA and the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA performed the direct distribution of federal government intervention of assorted grains to victim of 2022 flooding in Ilawe-Ekiti.
The Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, Oba Ajibade Alabi represented by the Ejigbo of Iro Quarters, Chief Michael Agbeni commended initiative which is being given directly to the deserving persons to assist the most vulnerable groups in the state.
Some of the beneficiaries commended the efforts of the federal government for the programme.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr Timothy Ajayi appreciated the Federal Government for coming to their aids by remembering them in Ekiti state.
