Ekiti State Governor,Mr Biodun Oyebanji has assured National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to the state of adequate security and welfare, describing Ekiti as one of the most peaceful, secure and hospitable states in the country.

The Governor gave the assurance on Friday at the swearing-in ceremony for the 2026 Batch 'B' Stream II Orientation Course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ise/Orun/Emure-Ekiti.

Represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Gold Adedayo, Oyebanji reaffirmed his administration's commitment to creating a conducive environment for corps members throughout their service year.

He urged the corps members to participate actively in all orientation activities designed to develop their physical fitness, mental resilience, leadership qualities and spirit of patriotism.

According to him, the NYSC scheme remains one of the nation's most effective platforms for promoting national unity, integration and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.



The Governor encouraged the corps members to build lasting friendships, respect the customs and traditions of their host communities and make meaningful contributions to the socio-economic development of the state.

He also charged them to uphold the core values of the NYSC by demonstrating integrity, discipline, diligence, patriotism and selfless service.

Oyebanji announced that the state government would commence the phased modernisation of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp through the renovation of existing facilities and the provision of additional infrastructure.


He said the initiative was aimed at providing a more conducive,  and befitting environment for orientation activities, adding that his administration would continue to invest in young people, strengthen national unity and promote sustainable development.

Earlier, the Ekiti State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr Adeola Ige, commended the Governor for his consistent support and unwavering commitment to the growth of the scheme in the state.


Ige particularly appreciated the governor's commitment to modernising the orientation camp through the rehabilitation of existing facilities and construction of additional infrastructure to improve the welfare, comfort and overall camp experience of corps members and officials.

He advised the corps members to embrace the culture and hospitality of their host communities, participate actively in all camp activities, build friendships across ethnic and religious divides, and make the orientation course a memorable and transformative experience.


The state coordinator disclosed that 2,099 corps members comprising 892 males and 1,207 females were successfully registered for the 2026 Batch 'B' Stream II Orientation Course at the close of registration.
