The Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has received 5,000 exercise notebooks donated by the Ekiti State Caucus of the South-West Agenda for Asiwaju 2.0 (SWAGA 2.0).
The notebooks were presented to the SUBEB Executive Chairman, Prof. Femi Akinwumi, at the board's headquarters in Ado-Ekiti by leaders of the SWAGA 2.0 Ekiti State Caucus, on behalf of the group's National Chairman, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, and National Convener, Hon. Oyetunde Oladimeji Ojo.
Receiving the materials, Akinwumi thanked the group for the gesture, describing the donation as a demonstration of its commitment to education and support for the Ekiti State Government's efforts to reposition the basic education sector.
He said the administration of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji had continued to prioritise basic education through various interventions aimed at improving teaching and learning across the state.
The SUBEB chairman cited the Back-to-School Programme run by the Governor's wife, Dr (Mrs) Olayemi Oyebanji, which provides school bags, sandals and instructional materials to pupils, as well as President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Initiative, through which educational materials, sports equipment, school bags and books are supplied to schools.
Akinwumi assured that the notebooks would be distributed judiciously to public primary schools across the state's 16 local government areas to benefit pupils.
He also pledged SUBEB's support, and that of the people of Ekiti State, for the success of President Tinubu's re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.
The SUBEB boss thanked Senator Adeyeye, Hon. Ojo and members of the SWAGA 2.0 Ekiti State Caucus for their support and commitment to the development of education in the state.
