Ekiti TESCOM Chairman Hails Oyebanji's Education Reforms, Seeks Sustained Support

The Chairman of the Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Mrs Rhoda Ojo, has commended Gov. Biodun Oyebanji's administration for what she described as remarkable achievements in the education sector, saying the commission has benefited immensely from the government's policies.

Ojo made the remarks during a Special Appreciation and Thanksgiving Service held at the commission's headquarters in Ado-Ekiti.

She said the current administration had recorded significant milestones in public secondary education, including the rehabilitation of school infrastructure, recruitment of teaching and non-teaching personnel, and prompt promotion of staff.

The TESCOM chairman also thanked God for the peaceful conduct of the recently concluded governorship election in the state, describing it as unprecedented in Ekiti's history.

She expressed optimism that the governor's second term would bring greater benefits to the state, the commission and the workforce.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the commission, Mr Michael Boluwade, described the governorship election as the most peaceful and credible in the state's history.

According to him, Oyebanji has also become the first governor in Ekiti to secure re-election for a second consecutive term.

Boluwade highlighted some of the administration's achievements in the education sector to include the regular release of running grants to public secondary schools, approval of career progression for bursars from Grade Level 14 to Grade Level 15, and improved funding of the commission's activities.

He urged staff and stakeholders in the education sector to continue supporting the governor to sustain the pace of development.

In his sermon titled "Attitude of Gratitude," the Government House Chaplain, Pastor Segun Awolumate, emphasised the importance of thanksgiving and contentment.

Awolumate encouraged the leadership and staff of the commission to remain hopeful of greater accomplishments during the governor's second term and to continue praying for the success of the administration.

The event was attended by Board  members of the commission, including Elder Lawrence Falana, Mrs Titilayo Falusi and Hon. Oladimeji Ayegboka.

Also present were the Senior Special Advisers to the Governor on State and Federal Teachers, Mr Fatai Oluyede and Mr Sunday Anifowose; the Tutors-General for Ekiti North, Central and South Senatorial Districts, Mrs Monisola Fasoranti, Mrs Oluwakemi Agbebunmi and Mrs Omotola Adebayo, respectively.

Others in attendance included the state President of the All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Public Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Mr Akinbode Oke; the National President of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), Comrade Sola Adigun, as well as leaders of the Non-Academic Staff Union.
