The Ekiti State Government has received a donation of truck spare parts from Dangote Sinotruk West Africa Ltd to support the fleet of waste disposal vehicles operated by the Ekiti State Waste Management Authority (EKSWAMA).
Receiving the items on behalf of the State Government, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Erelu Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe, described the donation as a timely intervention that would enhance the servicing and operational efficiency of the authority’s fleet.
Aluko-Ajisafe appreciated the management of Dangote Sinotruk for partnering with the state in promoting effective waste collection and environmental sanitation.
“This support will go a long way in improving the functionality of our waste disposal trucks and ultimately strengthen waste management services across the state,” she said.
The Director-General of EKSWAMA, Mr Olasunkanmi Onipede, said the donation would help reduce operational downtime and ensure consistent service delivery.
“With these spare parts, our trucks will be better maintained and more reliable, allowing us to respond promptly to waste management needs and sustain the clean environment agenda of the present administration,” he said.
Leading the Dangote Sinotruk delegation, the Assistant General Manager, Marketing and Sales, Mr Sunday Dairo, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting government initiatives, particularly in the areas of environmental sustainability and efficient waste management.
He said the company remained committed to strengthening partnerships that promote cleaner and healthier communities.
Also present at the event were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Dr Sunday Omoya, the General Manager of EKSWAMA, Engr. Tawose, and other officials of the ministry and the authority.
The collaboration highlights the commitment of the Ekiti State Government and private sector stakeholders to strengthening waste management infrastructure and maintaining a cleaner environment in the state.
