Wife of Ekiti State Governor Dr Olayemi Oyebanji has advocated a special fund for indigent patients to cater for their medical expenses whenever the need arises.
The Governor's wife stated this while playing host to management team of the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti.
Dr Oyebanji said such fund would be set aside in a purse for the indigent patients as it would safe them from streets begging and stress they pass through while looking for financial assistance from members of the public.
She told the management team of the health institution to look inward and map out strategy at ensuring the workability of the initiative.
The First Lady was of the opinion that the institution could also leverage on the goodwill of the present administration to generate fund from wealthy citizens of the state.
She thereafter expressed the readiness of her office to partner the Teaching Hospital for optimal performance.
Earlier, the Acting Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Professor Dare Ogunlusi called for government's assistance to promote the health needs of patients with special cases.
