Ekiti First Lady Commends Labour Leaders as Nurses, Female Labour Leaders Pay Visit

Wife of Ekiti State Governor Dr Olayemi Oyebanji has expressed her gratitude to various labour organizations in the state for their consistent support for the current administration in the state.  

Dr Oyebanji gave the appreciation in Ado-Ekiti while playing host to principal officers of the College of Health Science and Technology, Ijero Ekiti, National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives as well as the women wing of the Nigeria Labour Congress.

The Governor's wife who noted that the support of labour unions was needed to promote stability and good governance, urged them to remain steadfast for the betterment of the state.

Speaking further, she said all the requests of the various associations would be tabled at the appropriate quarters for accelerated attention.

Earlier, the provost College of Health Sciences and Technology, Dr Cecilia Olajumoke had solicited for the assistance of the Governor's wife in pushing for the upgrade of the institution to polytechnic status, improve subvention and accessibility to TETFUND to aid infrastructural development.

"with the growing population of students in our college, considering the rising interest in health based courses, the numbers of lecture theaters and laboratories available in the institution are no longer adequate.

"Unfortunately, accessibility to TETFUND, which would have been a major source of funds for infrastructural development is only restricted to Universities and Polytechnics. As a result of this, the college cannot access the same in its current nomenclature as a monotechnic". She lamented.

Also, the Chairman of National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Mr Kunle Oni discussed the need for more employment of highly skilled midwives, training and retraining of nurses and sensitization of council's chairmen's wives on safe motherhood.

The Nurses and Midwives Association, earlier confered  on the First Lady the award of Midwives Ambassador of Ekiti State in recognition and appreciation for her giant strides in combating cancer in the state.

Similarly the NLC women's wing Chairperson, Mrs Roseline Davis emphasized the need for training and Empowerment of members.
