EKITI CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD



.....Erelu Fayemi charges school girls to shun social vices

The Adolescents Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Ekiti State has joined the world to celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child. 


The event which was held at the State Government House  on Wednesday,12th October, 2022,with the  theme "Our time is now-our rights, our future",was attended by various  Adolescent Girls in Ekiti State.


Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi while addressing the girls encouraged them to always excel in their  academics, so that they can become successful and great women in their chosen career in the future.


Erelu Fayemi charged the students to avoid distractions in all its ramifications so that their positive dreams for a brighter future will not be jeopardized.


She highlighted some of the distractions to their education to include truancy, waywardness, bad associations among other things that could truncate their bright future.


While appealing to parents and guardians to play their roles of supporting the girl child through proper upbringing the Governor 's wife also enjoined the students to shy away from social vices, noting that such will not add any value to their lives.


She therefore assured the gathering that the wife of the incoming Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji would not deviate from various Programmes relating to Girl child Education and those affecting women directly.


Earlier in a remark, the wife of Ekiti State Governor Elect, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, appreciated all stakeholders who have contributed to the development and empowerment of girl child in the State.


She called on girls to be focused and take their studies seriously so as to become good citizens and great ambassadors of various homes they represent.


The state commissioner for education, science and technology, Dr Olabimpe Aderiye appreciated the Governor's wife for initiating Programmes that would promote the well being of every girl child and encouraged them to be mindful of the company they keep.


The Project Coordinator of AGILE in Ekiti State Mrs Oluwayemisi Alokan in her remarks appreciated Dr. John Kayode Fayemi led Administration for his giant strides towards girls empowerment in Ekiti State


Alokan who discussed extensively on AGILE project highligted the various activities carried out by AGILE project in Ekiti State


The event which featured a panel discussion where justice was done to the theme of the program, attracted personality from all walks of life and school girls from different schools across the state.
