Ekiti IRS boss lauds Gov Fayemi on granting autonomy to the State Revenue Service.


...Reiterates Government's commitment to people friendly tax regime.

The Chairman of the Ekiti State  Internal Revenue Service, Mr Olumuyiwa Ogunmilade has said that the autonomy granted the State IRS would boost the State IGR and ensure fairness in tax collection. 

Mr Ogunmilade gave the assurance during the closing ceremony of the 5-day Induction Program for 200 newly recruited staff of the Revenue Service.

Reiterating the commitment of the Fayemi led administration to the welfare of the people, Ogunmilade assured that nobody would be made to pay more than their due as tax, stressing that government would not condone any form of overtaxation or what is referred to as double taxation. 

He however cautioned all taxable adult in the State against taking the law into their hands and attacking tax officials, stressing that grievances should channelled to appropriate quarters as arrangements have been made to address knotty issues.

He warned that recalcitrant people that attempt to manhandle tax officials would henceforth be made to face the wrath of the law through diligent prosecution to serve as a deterrent to similar minded people.

Ogunmilade charged the new intakes to be dedicated and perform their duties with all sense of responsible and integrity.

In her remarks, the Chairman of the State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and appropriation,  Hon. (Mrs) Olubunmi Adelugba who closed the induction programme, charged the new officers to be resourceful in order to succeed in their new assignment and achieve the desired result.

She expressed gratitude to Governor Fayemi for his efforts at transforming the State and approving the autonomy for the State IRS which has led to making more people gainfully employed thereby reducing unemployment in the state.

Hon. Adelugba urged the new intakes to live up to expectation stressing the need  to make selfdevelopment their watchword. 

She also expressed hope that with the development, the EKIRS would block all loopholes and significantly increase the revenue of the state.

Adelugba commended the State Assembly for looking inwards to boost revenue generation in the State and passing  the IRS autonomy bill. 

Speaking on behalf of the inductees, Mrs.Babalola        appreciated the state government, the chairman and members of EKIRS. She promised on behalf of the newly recruited staff to work diligently towards achieving the desired goals.
