Ekiti Internal Revenue Autonomy: EKIRS Boss Reiterates Commitment to improving IGR.

 

...Commences training of 200 new staff

The Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service has commenced induction training for 200 newly recruited revenue officers  to boost tax administration in the State.

Declaring the training open, the State Head of Service, Barrister Bamidele Agbede charged the officers to reciprocate the confidence reposed in them and discharge their duties accordingly.

While appreciating the state Government for granting autonomy to the Internal Revenue Service, Mr Agbede noted that the autonomy implementation would boost the revenue generation of the state.

In his remarks, the Chairman, Ekiti State Board of Internal Revenue, Mr Olumuyiwa Ogunmilade solicited the support of all stakeholders, stressing the importance of the continued assistance of the State Government to guarantee the expected improvement in revenue generation in the State.

"We would continue to need government support, the governor who believe in our autonomy and signed it to law and gave us the go ahead to recruit people should not stop there, they must provide us with good technology and improve other channels of tax payment", he said.

While congratulating the new revenue staff, Ogunmilade reiterated government's zero tolerance for fraud adding that anyone caught in any fraudulent act would be made to face the wrath of the law.

He advised them to be of good character in the discharge of their duties adding that they should also note that they would be on six months probation and would be  relieved of their jobs in event of unsatisfactory performance. 

The EKIRS boss also warned against further molestation of officials of the Revenue Service, stressing that culprit would henceforth be handed over to the Police and diligently prosecuted. 

Speaking on behalf of the inductees, Mr Joshua Adojutelegan expressed  appreciation to the state government, chairman and members of Board of Internal Revenue for the opportunity to serve the State. 

He pledged the commitment of the new officers to the success of their assignment, adding that their induction into the State Internal Revenue Service would help increase revenue generation of the State.
